Mistral in Montréal

It's back! The Mistral in Montréal gallery got lost a while back during a website migration, but all the files have now been resurrected. Just as well, as it seemed to be quite popular. All photos were taken in the period 2003-2007 on the island of Montréal, with no plan in mind other than recording publicly - for better or worse - visible examples of Roger Excoffon's 1953 typeface Mistral. This theme is discussed in Matt's article Excoffon's Autograph in the Winter 2004 issue of Eye: The International Review of Graphic Design (pdf copy of the article for personal use only here). Clicking on any thumbnail will produce a larger view. Click on the larger view for the full size image. Montréal is now available in Google Streetview, so some fun may be had matching images found here with locations there.
